Success After Retiring – The Other Side of the Story
If there is one thing that we have learned in watching many athletes and entertainers that have gone broke after retiring or falling out of the limelight, is that success on the field, or success on the screen does not translate to success in business. In addition to telling the story and having the conversation of why going broke happens, I hope to show that there is another part of this formula. Athletes don’t have to go broke. Celebritites don’t have to fall by the wayside and lose all their money after the big checks stop rolling in. There are other things that can happen, there are other things that can be done. There are other forms of success that should happen after they hit the lotto in their first profession, and there are a lot of good stories out there about the ones that realize that. Lets talk about some of them.
Earvin “Magic” Johnson is probably the most highly publicized former athletes that has gone on to be a great success is something OTHER than sports and entertainment, but there are many more former athletes who can tell The Other SIde of the Story than what we are calling the Broken Athlete. Franchises have long been a way for former athletes and entertainers to get money after retirement, but there are other businesses that have popped up. Many use their celebrity to find it. Some used their brains. Some dusted off that degree and put to use that free education they got for their skills. Lets talk about some of them here…..
